WINTER IS HERE!

My favorite time of year has arrived. Venus is so excited when she is outside in the snow. It is great to be outdoors in this mild winter weather. I am always careful where I decide to walk and I am always dressed warmly. Dogs also need some winter protection.
The one first on our list is paws and paw pads. Salt and ice are hard on dog paws. Sometimes we use boots but finding ones to fit her small ankles was our challenge. There are many good ones but we decided on socks and the inexpensive rubber boots. Before we would head out, I put the paw wax on her pads I made for her. Paw wax helped with healing her paw pads that were cracking.
The socks were a protective layer for the ice and the rubber boots protected against the salt. She was able to walk without the funny dog walk that happens with some of the heavier boots. And in the -20° C. weather, our walks are a lot shorter and she wears a coat. In the extreme, weather she is never left outdoors for long. Winter can be a wonderful wonderland!
